Abstract

Purpose and Methods: To evaluate the P53 protein expression and clinical significance in human hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), the expression of P53 protein was detected in HCC by immunohistochemical method. Results: The results showed that P53 protein was positive in 49% (36/74) of HCC, and there was significant correlation between P53 protein expression and HCC histologic grade. Conclusion: The results suggested that the over expression of P53 caused by P53 gene mutation is a common kind of molecular structure changes in HCC. In addition, P53 protein may be used as a valuable biomaker of HCC.
