Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of Au-Pt based PFM crown on the periodontal tissue of restored teeth. Methods Twenty maxillary incisors possessed Au-Pt based PFM crowns with subgingival margins,of eighteen patients, were involved in the study. The contralateral homonymy nature teeth were healthy and treated as control teeth. The patients were recalled 6 to 8 months after the placement of the crowns. The gingival crevicular fluid(GCF) samples were collected by filter paper strips. The weight of GCF and the concentration of GCF TNF-α and GCF-EA were detected. Then the following clinical parameters were recorded for the test teeth and the matched control teeth:plaque index, probing depth, sulcus bleeding index. Results All of the restorations were clinically accepted, either in marginal depth or in marginal discrepancies. There were significant differences in the clinical parameters measured(except for plaque index) and the GCF parameters(except for GCF TNF-α) between the test and the control teeth. Conclusion Although it has been clinically accepted,Au-Pt based PFM crown has negative influences on gingival health of the restored teeth.
