Abstract
Objective To detect the effects of Ni - Cr based PFM crown on the periodontal tissue of the restored teeth. Methods Among 13 patients, 17 maxillary incisors possessed Ni - Cr based PFM crowns with subgingival margins, and were selected for the study. The con-tralateral homonymy natural teeth were healthy and treated as control teeth. The patients were followed up 6 to 8 months after the placement of the crowns. The gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) samples were collected by filter paper strips. The weight of GCF and the concentrations of GCF TNF-aaaaaaaaaaaaa and GCF - EA were detected. Then the clinical parameters such as plaque index, probing depth and sulcus bleeding index were recorded for the test teeth and matched ones. Results All the restorations were clinically accepted, either in marginal depth or in marginal discrepancies. There were significant differences in clinical parameters( except for plaque index) and GCF parameters between test and control teeth. Conclusion Although clinically accepted, Ni-Cr based PFM crown has negative influences on gingival health of the restored teeth.
