Abstract

Objective:To investigate the drug resistances of 3968 strains of clinical pthogenic bacteria which isolated from clinical specimens in clinical microbiology laboratory in West China Hospital in 2003,to provide evidences for infections diseases diagnosis and therapy. Methods:A total of 3968 strains were identified using the MicroScan WalkAway 40.Susceptibility tests used microdilution broth method. Results:Among clinical common pathogens, the first three were Escherichia coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumanii/haemolylicus.The resistance of eight pathogens to common antimicrobial agents was high.Resistant rate of Enterobacter cloacae and Escherichia coli to ampicillin was more than 90%.Among gram-negative bacteria except Strenotrophomonas maltrophilia, the resistance to imipenem was lowest and followed by amikacin. The resistance of Staphylococcus aureus was lower than that of Staphylococcus epidermidis.Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)was 57.17%,on the other hand, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis(MRSE)was 84.15%.The methicillin resistant Staphylococcus isolating rate was increased. All Staphylococcus strains were sensitive to vancomycin.Conclusions:Gram-negative bacteria isolations and their resistant rates were high. Most gram-negative bacteria except for Strenotrophomonas maltrophilia, were sensitive to imipenem. The resistance rate of Staphylococcus aureus was lower than that of Staphylococcus epidermidis.Until now, there was no vancomycin resistant Staphylococcus in our hospital.
