Relationship between the expression of survivin mRNA in the peripheral blood and gastric carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between the expression of survivin mRNA in the peripheral blood and gastric carcinoma.Methods The expression level of survivin mRNA in the peripheral blood of gastric carcinoma was detected by real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) before chemotherapy and after progression,and glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH) was used as an internal reference.Results The expression level of survivin mRNA was 0.6012±0.0496 before chemotherapy.It reached 0.7190±0.0961 with the progression.The regression analysis revealed that the expression level of surviving mRNA and stages were independent variables in affecting gastric carcinoma prognosis.Conclusion Survivin mRNA in the peripheral blood of gastric carcinoma could serve as an important indicator to diagnose gastric carcinoma early and determine the recurrence or progression and prognosis.
