TRIPLE THERAPY OF ESOMEPRAZOLE,LEVOFLOXACIN AND ORNIDAZOLE FOR CHRONIC GASTRITIS

Abstract

Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of combined esomeprazole,levofloxacin and ornidazole in the treatment of chronic gastritis(CG) with positive Helicobacter pylori(Hp). Methods This study consisted of 97 patients with positive-Hp CG,who were randomized to two groups: 50 in treatment group,and 47 in control group.To those in the treatment group,esomeprazole,levofloxacin and ornidazole were offered;to those in the control,esomeprazole,clarithromycin and amoxicillin administered,lasting for 7 days in both groups.13C-urea breath test was done 4-6 weeks after completion of therapy. Results The eradication rates of Hp in the treatment group and the control group were 82.00% and 63.83%,respectively,with significant difference between the two groups(χ2=4.08,P0.05). Conclusion The combination of esomeprazole,levofloxacin and ornidazole is effective and safe for positive-Hp chronic gastritis.
