Abstract
To understand actualities and characteristics of accidental death in children under 5 years old. To collect cases of accidental death in children under 5 years old during 1992~2001 in Beijing. The statistical analysis was used by EPI5 software. Accidental death was gone up from the fourth classified cause of death to the third during 1992~2001, and it was the first classified cause of death for the children aged 1~4 years. The accidental asphyxia mostly happened in children age 0~1years, and the traffic accidental death mostly occurred in age 2~4 years. [Conclusion] In order to reduce accidental death rate in children under 5 years old regarding accidental death in children, developing health education and enhancing the management of accidental death should be taken.
