Analysis of the trend and causes on accidental death among children under five during 1997～2006 in Shenzhen

Objective:To study actualities and characteristics of accidental death in children under 5 years old.Methods:The data were collected from the Shenzhen child mortality surveillance network,The statistical analysis was used by SAS 9.0 software.Results:The rate of accidental death among infants and children under 5 dropped in ten years.The main causes of infants accidental death was accidental asphyxia,and drowning was the first cause for 1-4 years old children's accidental death.Conclusion:The accidental death in children is avoidable,We should pay more attention to it,enhancing the management of accidental death,so as to reduce the rate of accidental death.
