Abstract
Teachers are facing new challenges under new curriculum criteria. First, teaching concepts and ideas must be updated. Second, the traditional ways of teaching must be modernized. Third, teachers' self-improvement is urgent. Under the new curriculum criteria, I suggest, a Chinese language teacher should play the role of a director not a performer in class. And the teacher should act as a bridge between students and texts. Besides, the teacher should be an enlightener and lead students into the world of art. Last but not the least, the teacher should be a particular and helper.
