Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical value of brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) in the evaluation of heart function and degree of the coronary artery disease in the angina pectoris patients. Methods: 68 patients of angina pectoris which was diagnosed by selected coronary angiography(CAG) were selected, including 32 stable angina patients and 36 unstable angina patients, whose heart function were classified to Ⅰ~Ⅳ based on NYHA. The difference of plasma BNP level was measured by fluoroimmunoassay, and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was detected by color Doppler and the relationship between the BNP level and the different coronary artery lesion was analyzed. Results: The level of plasma BNP elevated in these patients with the increase of the degree of lesion. It was positively correlated with the degree of coronary lesion and heart function (r = 0.82,P 0.05;r = 0.68,P 0.05 respectively), and negatively correlated with LVEF(r = -0.53,P 0.05). Conclusion: The level of plasma BNP is a useful marker for diagnosis of heart failure and coronary artery disease, and have great value for the evaluation of these diseases.
