Abstract

As one of the important works in Chinese classical poetics,Yuan Shi(原诗) written by Ye Xie has had two kinds of annotated versions. However, there still remains much work to be done to restore the poetic context of Yuan Shi(原诗) and reveal its discourse background. The broader context of Yuan Shi(原诗) involves the debate on Tang Poetry and Song Poetry during the period between the Ming and Qing dynasties, while its minor context pertains to the philosophical debate between Ye Xie and Wang Wan in terms of their poetic ideologies. The present author clarifies the main points and writing styles of Yuan Shi(原诗),pointing out several issues in notes and commentaries on Ye Xie's Yuan Shi(原诗).At the same time, the paper also presents fresh perspectives on new theoretical arguments relating to the writing process and theoretical origin of Yuan Shi(原诗) in the academia.
