Abstract
Yuan Zhengwas a new poetics proposition presented by KONG Yin Da in his Mao Shi Zheng Yi on the basis of traditional Yan Zhi. It aimed to challenge the proposition of Yuan Qing, which had held dominant position in poetics since the Wei and Jin Dynasty. Yuan Zhengemphasized the social responsibility of the poet and the social function of the poetry. This new poetic proposition arose from the classic interpretation, and influenced the poetic theory and the poetic creation. The theoretical spirit of Yuan Zhengpermeated not only through the changes of the poetry in Tang Dynasty from innovating Qi Liang literary style to establishing its own style, but also through its later variation and development.
