Abstract
Aim: To observe the changes of serum fibrosis markers and safety of IFN in treatment of patients with fibrosis of hepatitis B. Methods: A total of 75 patients with chronic hepatitis B were randomly divided into group A(n=39) and B(n=36). Patients in both groups received conventional drugs for 9 months, however,patients in group A also received IFN-α for 9 months. Serum HA,LN, PCⅢ,and CⅣ were measured by radioimmunoassay before and after treatment.Results: The serum HA,LN,PCⅢ,and CⅣ were gradually decreased till after treatment in group A(P0.01),but there were no changes during the period in group B. Levels of HA, LN,PCⅢ,and CⅣ of effective (n=18)and non-effective (n=21) patients in group A after treatment were lower than those of before (P0.05 or 0.01). Except CⅣ,the fibrosis markers of effective patients were lower than those of non-effective patients after treatment (P0.05).Conclusion: IFN-α combined with conventional drugs is effective in treatment of fibrosis of chronic hepatitis B.
