The Role of Metaphor in College English Vocabulary Acquisition

Abstract

Metaphor bears close relationship with language learning,especially vocabulary learning.The importance of metaphor begins to be recognized by scholars.Based on contemporary metaphor theories,the present paper pointed out that metaphor influences our thought.Metaphor theories can enhance vocabulary learning.It is very important to guide second language vocabulary acquisition with contemporary metaphor theories.
