Abstract
Metaphor serves not only as a rhetorical device,but as a way of thinking,and a significant cognitive tool.Being a bridge between cognition and language,metaphor plays a key role in vocabulary learning.So the writers attempts to account for the metaphor theories in the English vocabulary teaching.
