Efects of Sertraline Combined with Nimodipine on Post-stroke Depression

Objective To explore the effect of sertraline combined with nimodipine on post-stroke depression.Methods One hundred fifteen post-stroke depression patients were randomized into groups observation (n=63) and control (n=52).Observation group were given treatment of sertraline and nimodipine,control only sertraline.Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD),mini-mental state examination (MMSE),clinical neurological deficit scale (CSS),Barthel index (BI) were used to evaluate the efficacy in 2 groups.Results After 8 weeks of treatment,the total effective rates of groups observation and control were 82.5%,59.6%,respectively,the difference was significant (P0.05).The scores of HAMD and MMSE increased in 2 groups after treatment (P0.05).Barthel index,CCS scores were lower in observation group than in control,the difference was significant (P0.05).Conclusion Sertraline combined with nimodipine,of a relatively good effect in treatment of post-stroke depression,can improve obviously the cognitive ability and neural function and patients′ activities of daily living.
