Effect comparison of two treatment protocols in the treatment of spastic hemiplegia after stroke

Objective To compare the clinical effect of warm acupuncture-moxibustion and electro-acupuncture in spastic hemiplegia after stroke.Methods 120 cases of spastic hemiplegia after stroke were divided into experience group and control group with 60 patients each group.Two groups were given routine treatment and early rehabilitation exercises.Experience group received warm acupuncture-moxibustion treatment and control group was given electro-acupuncture.Ashworth rating scale,MBI,FMA and SIS 310 were used to evaluate limb spasticity,ADL,extremity motor function and life quality pre and post treatment.Results Ashworth rating scale of upper and lower limbs in experience group were much lower than that in control group 1 month after treatment(P 0.01);MBI,FMA and SIS 310 scores in experience group were superior to controls(P 0.01).Conclusion Comparison with electro-acupuncture,warm acupuncture-moxibustion for spastic hemiplegia after stroke can greatly improve the limb spasticity,activity of daily living and life quality.
