Related Research of TGF-β1 and the Progression of Bladder Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate whether the expression of TGF-β1 can provide a novel diagnosis of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder(TCCB) or not.Methods Immunohistochemistry S-P method was used to detect the expression of TGF-β1 in 40 cases of paraffin-embedded TCCB tissues and 10 cases of normal bladder mucosa tissues from patients died of other diseases.Results The expression of TGF-β1 in Grade IV of TCCB is higher than that of Grade I,II,III and normal bladder mucosa tissues(P0.05).The difference of TGF-β1 expression between superficial tumor(T_a～T_1) and invasive tumor(T_2～T_4) is not statistically important(P0.05).Conclusion Increased expression of TGF-β1 may play an important role in high grade of TCCB,but there is no significant correlation of TGF-β1 with clinical stage.
