Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of treating ureteral calculi with holmium:YAG laser via ureteroscope. Methods Retrospectively analysis was carried out on 116 cases with ureteral calculi treated with holmium:YAG laser via ureteroscope. Results The success rate of stone fragmentation was 96.5%(112/116) for ureteral calculi after single session,76.4%(13/17) for upper section of ureter and 100%(99/99) for middle and lower section. The mean operation time was 35 min and the mean hospital stay was 3.5 days. The stone clearance rate was 97.3%(109/112) during 2 to 8 weeks of follow up.Conclusion Ureteroscopic holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy is a highly effective and safe treatment for ureteral calculi, especially for lower ureteral calculi.
