Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of holmium : YAG laser on the treatment of ureteral calculi.Method 212 cases of ureteral calculi were treated via ureteroscope with ACU-H2E type holmium: YAG lithotriptor. Results The overall successful stone fragmentation rate of ureteral calculi was 95.28%(202/212).The mean stone expectoration time stone-free was 13.5 d.The mean operation time and post-operation hospital stay were 48.6 minutes and 3.5 days.No major complications such as perforation, fever, pyonephrosis were encountered. Conclusion Ureteroscopic holmium: YAG laser lithotripsy is a highly effective and safe treatment modality for managing ureteral calculi.Stone size, concomitant ureteral polyp and occurrence of stone shift in operation are the important influential factors of holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy.
