Abstract
Objective To study the frequency and distribution characteristics of irregular erythrocyte antibodies among volunteer blood donors in Hainan. Methods 344,148 blood samples of donors were randomly collected from January 2010 to June 2014. Irregular antibodies screening test was performed by saline agglutination test, polybrene test and anti-human globulin test. Results In total, data from 344,148 blood donors were analyzed, from which,78 irregular erythrocyte antibodies were detected(0. 0227%). The statistical results showed a higher frequency of irregular erythrocyte antibodies in females(0. 0431%) than in males( 0. 0129%)( P 0. 05). The highest irregular erythrocyte antibodies positive rate(47. 44%) was observed in the age group of 18-24 years. Among 78 positive samples with irregular erythrocyte antibodies were 16 cases of ABO subgroup,9 cases of anti-M,3 cases of anti-D,1 case of anti-P1,1 case of anti-Tja,20 cases of cold auto-antibodies and 28 cases of nonspecific irregular antibodies. Conclusion There was a certain rate of irregular erythrocyte antibodies among volunteer blood donors in Hainan area. Therefore,it is of great significance to strengthen the safety of clinical transfusion and to put an emphasis on screening and identification of irregular erythrocyte antibodies among volunteer donors.
