Evaluation on Effect of Health Education on AIDS among Railway Passenger Attendants in Ji'nan Railway Bureau

[Objective] To understand the AIDS awareness status and its influencing factors among railway passenger attendants,evaluate the effect of health education intervention.[Methods]Training intervention on AIDS knowledge among 596 attendants from Ji'nan Railway Bureau,a questionnaire survey was conducted before and after the intervention.[Results]68.46% of the respondents hoped for AIDS prevention knowledge,16.61% wanted access to the knowledge of AIDS transmission,14.93% hoped for symptoms and treatment of AIDS knowledge;59.23% of the respondents getting AIDS prevention information by television.The awareness rate of AIDS patients should be allowed to continue to work was 83.39% before Intervention and 89.43% after Intervention(P0.01).The rate of willingness to continue contacts between HIV infected persons was 71.14% before intervention and 78.69% after intervention(P0.01).After health education,most people knew that daily contact did not spread AIDS.The rate that awareness about mosquito bites did not spread AIDS was higher than before the intervention(P0.01 or 0.05).[Conclusion]It is an effective measure to increase their level of AIDS knowledge by carrying out health education on AIDS knowledge among railway attendants.
