Abstract

This paper advances a kind of completely new method for designing irrigation district, that is, this irrigation design method is based on agricultural water use and with the salt water balance as the conditions to take into account water use in the whole irrigation district. The diverted water use calculated by this method in the irrigation district is reduced by 10%~20% in comparison with the existing water use in the irrigation district so as to achieve the objective of eliminating alkali salinization via the drainage in the irrigation district. With an aim at the typical irrigation district the irrigation system for the whole region is designed, whose research achievements can be used in the design of irrigation district of combining canals with wells as well as the improvement of old irrigation district.
