Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression of Survivin mRNA and protein in esophageal squamous carcinoma(ESC) tissues and its correlationship with clinical data.METHODS:In 30 cases of ESC,the expression of Survivin mRNA was detected by in situ hybridization(ISH),and the expression of Survivin protein by immunohistochemical method and SP technique in cancerous tissues and paraneoplastic tissues.RESULTS:In cancerous tissues and paraneoplastic tissues of ESC,the positive expression of Survivin mRNA was 66.7% and 10.0% respectively, and the positive expression of Survivin protein was 76.7% and 16.0% respectively, showing significant difference(P0.01).The positive expression of Survivin mRNA in ESC tissues was similar to that of Survivin protein(P0.05),which was not related to sex,age and the size of tumor, but related to histological grade, lymphatic metastasis and TNM staging.CONCLUSION:The abnormal expression of Survivin gene may play an important role in the genesis and development of ESC.
