Abstract

Objective To explore the role of metastasis associated protein-1(Mta-1)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)expression in the occurrence and development of BTCC and their clinical value. Methods In 40 cases of BTCC and 10 cases of normal bladder tissues, the expression of Mta-1 and VEGF was examined with immunohistochemical method, and their correlation was analyzed.Their correlation with the invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis and recurrence of BTCCs was analyzed. Results The positive rates of Mta-1 expression were 70.0%(28/40)in BTCCs and 0 in normal bladder mucosa tissues(P0.05).The expression level of Mta-l was higher in the higher clinical stages and pathological grades of BTCCs,and it was higher in recurrence group than in non-recurrence group,in metastasis group than in non-metastasis group(P0.05).The expression level of VEGF was higher in the higher clinical stages of BTCCs.The positive rate of VEGF expression was significantly higher in BTCCs than that in normal bladder mucosa tissues(P0.05).Mta-1 expression was positively correlated with VEGF expression in BTCCs(rs=0.762,P0.05).Conclusion The results indicate that Mta-1 and VEGF could be new targets for gene therapy of bladder neoplasms and anti-neovascularization.
