Abstract
Objective To study the relationship between expression vascular endothelial growth factor and the invasiveness or recurrence of bladder cancer. Methods Immunostaining for expression vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) was carried out in 40 cases of transitional cell bladder carcinoma. Results It was revealed that the expression of VEGF was significantly higher in infiltrative lesions than in the superficial ones( P 0.01). There was also a significant difference of expression VEGF between those with lymph nodes metastasis and those without metastasis( P 0.05), between those with recurrent lesions and the primary cases. Conclusions It was suggested that the expression of VEGF correlated positively with the biological behavior of bladder tumor.
