Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion(CSII) for intensive insulin treatment. Methods 76 patients were studied by CSII method. After under controlled of hyperglycemia, under 5 patients were switched to oral hypoglycemic agent and 68 patients were turned to splitting subcutaneous insulin injection(MSII). Results After CSII for 3 to 12 days,an average 6.2±2.0 days, the hyperglycemia could be controlled effectively. The ratio of basal dose to bolus of insulin was in access to 2:3.The ratio of boluses before three meals was 1∶1∶1.The frequency of hypoglycemia in CSII of each case was 0.06 time/d. Conclusions Since CSII mimicks the physiological insulin secretion, hyperglycemia can be controlled more effectively, with less hypoglycemia episode, which provides a safe, effective and convenient new method for intensive insulin treatment.
