Abstract

Objective: To assess the short periodic efficacy of insulin pumping therapy in type 2 diabetes. Methods: 46 patients with type 2 diabetes were studied by two methods of intensive insulin therapy. In a period of 10 to 30 days, 20 patients were treated by continuous subcutaneous insulin injection (CSII) with insulin pump and 26 patients were received multiple subcutaneous insulin injection(MSII).Results: When 2 groups reached the stable target blood glucose value, the average duration of treatment, the daily insulin dose and the hypoglycemia incidence were markedly decreased in CSII group compared with MSII group. Conclusion: CSII method may control the hyperglycemia sooner and more effectively, and reduce the hypoglycemia risk compared with MSII.
