Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effects of glass fiber posts for the restoration of anterior residual crown and root. Methods 56 patients with glass fiber post restoration of anterior residual crown and root in the dental clinic of our hospital from January 2008 to January 2011 were chosen as the research subjects(observtion group).During the same period,56 patients with cast metal pile repair of anterior residual crown and root were randomly selected as the comparative subjects(contol group). The two groups were followed up.The clinical efficacies were observed and compared between the two groups. Results The number of succeeded teeth and the success rate in the observation group was significantly higher than those in the contol group, while the number of failure cases was significantly lower than that in the ontrol group,in particular, the cases number of periapical periodontitis teeth and root fracture were significantly less than those in the control group, with statistical difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Glass fiber post has more superiorities in aspects of anti-corrosion,anti-fatigue,light transmittance and aesthetic property than metal cast post, which can replace the traditional metal post and core restoration in clinical application.
