Abstract

Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy of glass fiber and cast metal post in repair of the maxillary anterior kesidual crown and root. Methods:One hundred and sixty cases(210 teeth) with requiring repair anterior teeth were randomly divided into group A(105 teeth),which were repaired with glass fiber post and group B(105 teeth),which were repaired with cast metal post and the porcelain for crown. After two-year following-up,the clinical efficacy were observed. Results:One hundred and forty-five cases(185 teeth) were followed and 15 cases failed to follow. For 95 teeth of 77 cases of group A,82 teeth recovered and 13 teeeth failed, and 69 teeth recovered and 21 teeeth failed in 90 teeth of 68 cases of group B.The clinical efficacy of two groups had no statistically significant difference(P0.05),the occurrence of root fracture, pile core break and pile core loose or fall off had statistical difference(P0.05),but no statistical difference in the occurrence of the crown mobility or fall off and gingival edge discoloration in two groups(P0.05).Conclusions:Glass fiber post for protecting root facture and fall off is better than cast metal post.
