Abstract

Objective:To compare the clinical effect of glass fiber post and nickel-chromium casting post in the repair of the molar residual crowns and roots.Method:One hundred and sixteen patients with 124 teeth from January 2007 to January 2010 in Feixian of Shandong Province People's hospital were randomly selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group,62 teeth in each group. The treatment group was given fiber glass posts and the control group was given nickel-chromium casting post. The two groups were repaired by porcelain crowns. With two years following-up,the clinical effect were observed.Result:For 62 teeth of the treatment group,58 teeth were successful,4 teeth failed, the success rate was 93.54%,62 teeth of the control group,57 teeth were successful,5 teeth failed, the success rate was 91.94%.The clinical effect of two groups had no statistically significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion:For molar defects not serious patients, select glass fiber post core crown restoration or metal cast post core crown restoration, suggest the preferred glass fiber post, for defect serious merger poor root of tooth, suggest use metal casting pile.
