Comparative Study of Electroacupuncture plus Pricking-cupping Bloodletting Method for the Treatment of Cervical Spondylosis

Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of electroacupuncture plus pricking-cupping bloodletting method in treating cervical spondylosis.Methods One hundred and eighty patients with cervical spondylosis were allocated by simple randomization to a treatment group(electroacupuncture plus pricking-cupping bloodletting method) and control group(pricking-cupping bloodletting method alone),90 cases each.The therapeutic effect and the mean treatment time were observed in the two groups.Results The clinical recovery rate and the total efficacy rate were 46.7% and 95.6%,respectively,in the treatment group and 30.0% and 92.2%,respectively,in the control group.There was a statistically significant difference in the clinical recovery rate between the two groups(P0.05).The mean treatment times for all the patients and the recovery patients were shorter in the treatment group than in the control group.There were statistically significant differences between the two groups(both P0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture plus pricking-cupping bloodletting method has a higher clinical recovery rate in treating cervical spondylosis than pricking-cupping bloodletting method alone and can reduce the treatment time.
