Abstract

Objective:To study the surgical effect of tympanoplasty for chronic otitis media suppurative. Methods:Based on the different degrees of the pathological change of tympanic cavity, different surgical treatment was adopted for chronic otitis media suppurative in 140 ears to observe the hearing improvement and the survived transplanted membrane. Results:Transplanted membrane in 129 ears(92 12%) was survived and the perforation was closed. The hearing of 117 ears(90 07%) was improved over 10 dB,average improved 17 4dB;Membrane was partial survived and perforation was not closed in 3 ears(2.14%).Hearing was improved in 1 ear and 2 ears with no changes.Membrane was not survived in 8 ears(5.71%).76 ears(54.29%) reached the required hearing level after operation. Conclusions:Tympanoplasty is the effective treatment for chronic otitis media suppurative.Thorough clearing the pathological change during operation and choose the suitable operation according to the different change could improve the surgical effect.
