Abstract

Objective To explore the timing of tympanoplasty in treatment of chronic otitis suppurative media,in order to provide basis for the clinical treatment. Methods A retrospective analysis of 50 cases(56 ears)with hronic otitis suppurative media in our hospital Jun.2009 to Jun.2011 were divided into 7 groups according to the time of dry ear,and 8 ears were selected in each group to conduct tympanoplasty, the hearing level of each patient was recorded and follow-up was done for 3 months to analyze the correlation between hearing level and operation dry ear time. Results The highest hearing improvement after tympanoplasty as treatment of chronic otitis suppurative media was after 2-4 months for dry ear by the fitting equation:Y^=12.5567+0.19671x-0.03221x2.Conclusion The optimal time of tympanoplasty as treatment of chronic otitis suppurative media was after 2-4 months for dry ear, which can increase the successful rate and maximize the hearing threshholds, thus improve patients life quality.
