Tanreqing Injection for Acute Respiratory Infection:Clinical Observation of 180 Cases

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy of Tanreqing injection in the treatment of acute respiratory infection.METHODS:A total of 180 patients with acute respiratory infection were randomized to Tanreqing group or control group.The major outcome measures were clinical changes in febrile,cough,amount of sputum,difficulty in expectoration and tongue-pulse.RESULTS:In Tanreqing group,after treatment for 3 days,the patients showed temperature drop,cough mitigation,lessened degree of expectoration,improvement in red tongue and yellow coated tongue;on 7th day,the comprehensive improvement rate was 93.73%,and the rate of showing efficacy was 85.71%,all higher than in control group(76.56% and 62.86%,respectively,P0.01 and P0.05).CONCLUSION:Tanreqing injection has remarkable pyretolysis,phlegm eliminating action yet with good safety.
