Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effects of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on wound healing and the side effects of bFGF. Methods:In this study, 173 patients with various kinds of wounds were recruited and randomly divided into treatment and control groups. The 89 patients (55 with acute wounds and 34 chronic intractable wounds) in the treatment group were treated with local use of bFGF in addition to routine management, while the 84 patients in the control group treated only with routine management. Results:It was found that the time needed for wound healing for those in the treatment group was significantly shorter than that in the control group. Meanwhile, no adverse effect was found in any patients treated with bFGF. Conclusion:bFGF can promote the repairing of wounds.
