Abstract
Objective To study the significance of serum triglycerin/high density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL C) ratio in predicting coronary heart disease(CHD) risk. Methods TG/HDL C ratios were analysed in 291 cases underwent coronary angiogaphy (CHD was present in 173 patients and absent in 118 as normal control group). Results TG/HDL C ratio and abnormal rate of the ratio were significantly higher in patients with CHD than those of the normal control group ( P 0.01). Multivariate regression analysis revealed that the ratio was a significant variable associated with CHD compared with either TG or HDL C. Conclusion High TG and low HDL C concentrations are much more dangerous factor in developing CHD than single blood lipid abnormality and thus TG/HDL C ratio is a better predicting index for CHD risk.
