Controlled study of paroxetine combing with a small dose of olanzapine in the treatment of depression in patients with insomnia

Objective:To study the effect of paroxetine combing with a small dose of olanzapine in the treatment of depression in patients with insomnia.Methods:140patients with depression and insomnia were enrolled and divided into two groups randomly.And each group had 70 cases.Observation group were treated with paroxetine combing with small doses of olanzapine and the control group were treated with paroxetine therapy alone,both were treated for 8weeks.Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),TESS(TESS)were used for assessment of efficacy and adverse reactions.Results:In both groups,individual scores were all improved comparing with that before treatment(P0.05).After treatment,HAMD,PSQI,HAMA scores were significantly different from that before treatment(P0.05).Depression symptomatic treatment efficiency(HAMD reduction rate 50%),anxiety symptomatic treatment efficiency(HAMA reduction rate50%),PSQI scores as well as incidence of adverse reactions of the two groups were significantly different from each other.Conclusions:Paroxetine in combination with low-dose olanzapine is effective in the treatment of depression,it significantly improve depressive symptoms and sleep quality of patients with great safety,thus it's worthy of recommendation.
