The effect of paroxetine with olanzapine in the treatment of depression with somatic symptoms.

Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of paroxetine combined with olanzapine in the treatment of depression with somatic symptoms.Methods A total of 66 patients who met with the criteria of CCMD-3 for depression were randomly divided into paroxetine group and paroxetine combined with olanzapine group for the treatment of 8 weeks.All patients were evaluated with Hamilton Rating Scale for depression(HAMD) and Treatment Emergent Symptoms Scale(TESS) before the treatment and at the end of the first,second,forth and eighth week of the treatment.Results The treatment of paroxetine with olanzapine was significantly effective.The marked effective rates of paroxetive combined with olanzapine group and paroxetive group were 54.85% and 60.61% respectively,there had significantly difference.Significant differences in factor scores of anxiety somatization and sleep disorder in HAMD were found between two groups.Side effects in two groups were few.Conclusion Paroxetine with small-dose olanzapine could increase the efficacy and improve sleep disorder and physical symptoms in the treatment of depression.
