Serum resistin level of impaired glucose tolerance patients and effect of metformin on its level

Obective To analyze the serum resistin level of impaired glucose tolerance patients(IGT) and effect of metformin on it.Methods The first stage,the fasting serum level of resistin was examined in 156 patients with IGT and 150 person with normal glucose tolerance(NGT),and the results was compared in different groups.Second stage,Patients with IGT were cured by metformin 3 months persistly,and to analyze the effect of metformin.Results The fasting serum resistin concentrations was significantly higher in IGT than in NGT groups(P0.05).The fasting serum resistin concentrations was significantly lower after metformin′s treatment(P0.05).Conclusion IGT′s serum resistin concentrations was higher than NGT and metformin's treatment can decrease the fasting serum resistin concentrations of IGT.
