Abstract

Objective To study the clinical efficacy of Tiaoqi Jianwei decoction on the basis of conventional glucose- lowering treatment in aged patients with diabetic gastroparesis. Methods 60 cases were randomly divided into two groups. 30 cases in treatment group were treated by traditional Chinese medicine granule Tiaoqi Jianwei decoction (it was made from 10g of Zhixiangfu, 10g of caulis perillae, 6g of Chenpi, 6g of Chaozhike, 10g of Codonopsis pilosula, 10g of Shengbaishu, 10g of Tuckahoe, 6g of Jiangbanxia, 10g of semen amomi, 10g of radices salviae miltiorrhizae, and 3g of Shenggancao) taken orally for 100ml every time for three times (half an hour before breakfast, lunch and dinner ) per day. And 30 cases in control group were given 10mg of domperidone taken orally three times a day. The period of the treatment was 4 weeks in both groups. FPG, FPG in 2h, HbAIc and gastric emptying (x-ray barium meal examination) were detected in all the patients and then compared the index of symptom improvement. Results The total effective rates were 90% in treatment group and 70% in control group. The difference had significant meaning (P0.05); the effective rate of gastric emptying monitoring were 90% and 70%, respectively, and the difference had significant meaning as well (P0.05); It had no obvious effect on FPG, 2hPG and HbAIc, P0.05. Conclusions The traditional Chinese medicine granule Tiaoqi Jianwei decoction has significant efficacy in treating diabetic gastroparesis with no side effects.
