Abstract
Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of sequential mechanical ventilation in patients with acute severe organophosphate poisoning(ASOP) with respiratory failure(RF).Methods:Sixty patients with ASOP with RF were randomly divided into routine mechanical ventilation group(30 cases) and invasive and non-inva sive sequential ventilation group(30 cases). The 30 cases in routine mechanical ventilation group were continuous ly received invasive mechanical ventilation and the 30 cases in sequential ventilation group were conducted by extubation when patients had enough strength to trigger ventilator and followed by non-invasive ventilation via face mask. Results:The difference in invasive ventilation time, the total duration of mechanical ventilation, the length of hospitalization, the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, weaning failure and mortality between the two group had statistical significance(P0.05).Conclusion:Sequential mechanical ventilation is an effective treatment for patients with ASOP accompanied by RF.It can shorten the time of invasive ventilation, the length of hospitalization and reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, and mortality.
