Abstract
Objective: To study the therapeutic effects of levofloxacin in treating severe lower respiratory tract infections. Methods: Twenty patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and lower respiratory tract infections were treated with levofloxacin 200mg, i.vgtt, bid×7~14 d. The other group (n=21) was treated with cefotaxime 3.0 g, i.vgtt, bid for 7~14 d. Results: The effective rates were 85.0% in levofloxacin group, and 85.7% in cefotaxime group. There is a significant difference in these two groups, P0.05. Conclusions: Levofloxacin is an effective antibiotic in the treatment of severe lower respiratory tract infecton.
