Effects and safety of levofloxacm injection in the treatment of lower respiratory tract bacterial infection

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of levofloxacin in the treatment of lower respiratory tract bacterial infection with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD ). Methods Sixty COPD patients with lower respiratory tract bacterial infection were treated with levofloxacin 500 mg iv,qd ,total treatment course was 7 ~ 14 days. Results The effective rate was 97%. The cure rate was 74% and the bacterial eradication rate was 92%. Adverse reaction were rare and mild. Conclusion Levofloxaen is an effective and safe antibiotic in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infection in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD.
