Abstract
AIM: To evaluate the efficacy, safety and practicality of levofloxacin tablets in treating lower respiratory tract bacterial infection in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). METHODS:Thirty COPD outpatients with lower respiratory tract bacterial infection (M 18,F 12;age 56 a± s 10 a) were treated with levofloxacin 200 mg, po , bid for 3 4 d,followed by 100 mg po ,bid for 4~5 d,total treatment course was 7 9 d. RESULTS: The effective rate was 97%,the cure rate was 74% and the bacterial eradication rate was 92%.Adverse reaction were rare and mild.CONCLUSION:Levofloxacin is an effective and safe antibiotic in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infection in outpatients with acute exacerbation of COPD,and the therapeutic course is short.
