Effect of telmisartan on reversing left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with hypertension

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the effect of Telmisartan (Micardis) on reducing blood pressure and reversing left ventricular hypertrophy.Method:Thirty three patients with essential hypertension complicated with left ventricular hypertrophy were treated with Telmisartan for 12 weeks.Result:After treatment with Telmisartan, the patient's blood pressure were reduced, IVST, and LVMI were decreased (P 0.01 ).Conclusion:Telmisartan was effective in treatment of hypertension and reversing left ventricular hypertrophy.
