REPORT ON BLACKFLIES IN GANSU,CHINA(DIPTERA: SIMULIIDAE)

Abstract

The basic fauna and its geographical distribution of blackflies in Gansu Province were incestigated.Methods:Blackflies in immature stages were collected from five different representative areas of Gansu Province with conventional methods,and were reared in the lab to produce adults.After the identication of the slide and needle-fixed specimens,a list of blackfly species in Gansued was given and discussed,Results: 13 species including 4 new ones of blackflies were reported.Conclusion: There is a rich diversity of blackflies in Gansu Province to show a fauna character of paraearctic realm about the blackfly.
