A Primarily Report on Blackflies in Sichuan, China (Diptera: Simuliidae)

Objective: To investigate the basic fauna and geographical distribution of blackflies in Sichuan province. Methods: Immature stages of blackflies were collected from five different representative areas of Sichuan province with conventional methods, and were reared in the lab to produce adults. After the identification of the slide and needle fixed specimens, a list of blackfly species in Sichuan and a discussion were given. Results: 22 species including 5 new ones and 2 new records of blackflies all from Sichuan province of China were reported. Conclusion: There is a rich diversity of blackflies in Sichuan province and many new taxae are discovered during this survey. [
