Clinical application of machine used ProTaper nickel-titanium root canal file in root canal treatment

Abstract

Objective To observe the application effect,clinical operative time and postoperative pain response of the machine used ProTaper nickel-titanium root canal file in the root canal treatment. Methods 256 teeth needing root canal treatment in our hospital from March 2011 to May 2012 were divided into 2 groups, with 159 teeth in the experimental group and 97 teeth in the control group. The experimental group received the protaper nickel-titanium root canal file and used the crown-down method for root canal preparation while the control group received the ISO standard hand used stainless steel K-file and used the traditional step-back technique for root canal preparation.Both groups used EDTA gel dredge,2.5% sodium hypochlorite solution flushing, France laingen filling paste+gutta percha point cold side pressure root canal filling (machine used nickel-titanium group used large taper gutta perchapoint). The clinical operative time was compared and the postoperative reactions were observed. Results The average operative time of root canal preparation was (7.20±1.75)minutes in the experimental group,which was significantly shorter than the (14.50±4.75)minutes in the control group. The incidence of tooth pain 3 days after treatment was 3.8% in the experimental group,which was significantly lower than the 13.4% of the control group(P0.01). Conclusion The application of ProTaper nickel-titanium root canal files in the preparation of root canals shows good root canal taper,good root canal filling effect and little root tip pain response,saves time and has good curative effect,thereby worthy of clinical promotion.
