Treatment of early Chronic Renal Failure and High Blood pressure with integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Irbesartan

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of integrated the traditional Chinese Medicine shenshuai and gaoxieya(TCM-SG)with Irbesartan in treating patients with early chronic renal failure(CRF)and High Blood pressure.Methods 62patients with CRF and High Blood pressure were randomly divided in to treatment group and control group.Treatment group(32cases)were treated with the TCM-SG on the bases of western medicine treatment:Irbesartan150-300mg every day;control group(30cases)were treated with western medicine treatment only.The course of treatment was12weeks for both groups.The levels of blood pressure(BP),urinary total protein(UTP),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),blood urea nitrogen(BUN)and serum creatinine(Scr)were observed.Results In both groups,the levels of BP,UTP,BUN and Scr were much lower than that before therapy(P0.01).After treatment,the levels of BP,UTP,BUN and Scr of the treatment group were much lower than that of the control group(P0.05).Conclusions The therapy integrated TCM-SG with lrbesartan can significantly reduce BP,UTP,BUN,Scr and improve renal function for patients with early CRF and High Blood pressure.
